I really must find an alternative (once I've used my credits up) I do understand why audible files are drm protected but it is annoying that the format is such that you can't easily access something you have paid for unless you jump through hoops or use their app. So it wasn't as straightforward as I was looking for -but now I've done it so can do it again.and hope this helps anyone else in the same situation. I now have it as M4B (I think ?) file which I can play on my audiobook player - I could have made it into a mp3 but seems I would have lost the chapters etc.there is a way round it but I didn't need to do that msi installation file and I found I had to install.
I have managed to do it using a windows program 'inaudible' ( ) via Wine. most hits seem to be aimed at Windows users. Thanks for the help - I have looked online but some seem quite out of date or really complicated. (I know I should find another audiobook provider - I am just using up some credits I have with them.)
Audible converter aax to mp3 software#
Is it not something to do with audible DRM? (I do own these books - bought from audible) - I found a free software 'openaudible' which apparently works on Linux but it seems (In the free version) I would need to log into my audible account from the software to download the file (again) and I'm not particularly happy doing that with some random software downloaded online! I tried using WinFF as a gui for ffmpeg before to see if that would work and get the same problem aac I get file not found -guess I could use change the name of the extension so it can be found? Prediction is not allowed in AAC-LC.Īnd the output file says playback terminated as unrecognised file format(or similar) aac was a typo or not so I tried 'imput file'.aax I get a massive error messageĮrror while decoding stream #0:0: Invalid data found when processing input
